Lipitor Back Pain
Lipitor back pain is more widespread than you realize. The side effects of cholesterol lowering drug results in lipitor back pain. This back pain is experienced in only some who consume lipitor, not in everyone. If you are taking this drug and you experience back pain, call your doctor right away to report the problem. Do not discontinue the medication without first speaking to your doctor. He or she may want you to stay on the medication and deal with your back pain separately, or possibly change the medication to something else.
It's likely your doctor will recommend one or more remedies for the relief of your pain. Common remedies for back pain include pain medication, exercise, heat and posture correction. Let's look at each of these therapies in more detail. Pain medication comes in a variety of forms. Common over-the-counter pain medications include acetaminophen and ibuprofen, commonly known by the brand names of Tylenol and Advil. Naproxen sodium such as Aleve may also be recommended. There are stronger prescription drugs that may be used for severe pain, such as Vicodin and Percoset. These drugs are highly addictive and therefore must be used carefully under strict medical supervision for the shortest duration of time possible.
Exercise is often recommended to back pain sufferers because it is safe, effective and beneficial when done correctly. There are many different types of exercise that may be recommended. For example, there are specific stretching and strengthening exercises designed for people with back pain. Yoga and Pilates are also popular choices with people seeking to relieve their back pain through exercise. Water exercise is yet another form of exercise you may want to consider. It is effective yet gentle which is exactly what pain sufferers need.
Heat for Lipitor back pain can provide temporary relief for some people. You may be advised by your doctor to buy a heat wrap and apply it to the affected area. A warm towel may also work in a pinch. Soaking in a hot tub may also provide relief, but ask your doctor before doing so because the high temperature may raise blood pressure which could be dangerous for some. Posture correction may provide relief by allowing the bones and muscles to align properly and may help you avoid further back problems that may exacerbate the problems you currently have.
